We do have one. It is a nice device, and it beat hooking up the laptop to the TV every time we wanted to watch some shit I downloaded.
I use VisualHub or Handbrake and put DVD episodes on it, or transcode .avi files and others. It is convenient to have it automatically sync stuff, too, and the interface is rockin.
I was contemplating putting together a mythtv box or something, but honestly, this thing is cheaper, quieter, and easier for what I needed it for (simply playing back videos and music).

Yep, I definitely feel your pain on the hooking up count. It gets old real quick.
I’m curious, if you were to use a mythtv arrangement instead, in what ways would AppleTV be cheaper? Isn’t an ATV something like $500 or so? Or, would you have had to purchase a new comp to run mythtv on?
