I fucking love David Lynch.

I find that anarchism is a very loaded word. i think I’ve had a lot more success to people explaining my ideas first and then telling them that many of those ideas could be called “anarchism.”
I don’t really like either term anyway. Using the word anarchy just seems to punk-rock for me, but I don’t like the -ism either. It reminds me of when Guy Debord said that there was no such thing as Situationism and that the word was obviously made up by anti-situationists.

David Lynch is an odd character. An old-school conservative, i guess.
Bob - a brief funny story for you. so i was with a group of anarchists at a big march a few years ago. we were minding our own business at the time, when out of nowhere this liberal womyn comes charging at us yelling things like “ANARCHY! YOU WANT ANARCHY! ANARCHY IS WHAT THEY HAVE IN IRAQ NOW! DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN IRAQ!?!?” Most of us were just speechless, but luckily a friend who is always pretty calm and on his toes calmly took her aside and explained that she has it all wrong… and proceeded to talk to her about anarchist theory 101.
btw, my favorite short description of anarchy: to each according to need, from each according to ability.
king mob - i usually say i’m an autonomist first. typically people will then ask what that means. i explain and follow up with “its a fancy way of saying anarchist.”

wow. any anarchists i’ve ever met, at rallies or otherwise, couldn’t give me a good rundown of anarchist theory when i ask. they seemed to be more interested in their own little black bloc club than in abolishing hierarchy.
that’s kind of why i’ve always been reticent to be associated with anarchists even thought my thoughts are very close to anarchism.

You guys should do product placement in the podcast to pick up some extra cash.
“Hey Jenna, you know, just the other day, I was using some delicious Earth Balanceâ„¢ on my toast and boy was it good!”
“That’s funny Bob, because I was just thinking that we need to go to the store and pick up some more healthy and delicious Ezekielâ„¢ bread.”
“Let’s go! I just need to slip on my oh-so-comfortable No Bullâ„¢ shoes first.”
No one would even notice.

I love David Lynch. It’s nice to see a director evolve over time without losing his fire or personal ethics… for a change.
For the basics of Anarchy I still send people to Negativland’s old “ABC’s of Anarchism”. If people can’t understand it after such a concise and clear little song, then they’re idiots and will never understand it.
What kind of Anarchist would use the term “this liberal womyn”. Are you fuckin’ kidding us? Anarchism without intellect isn’t Anarchism at all. It’s something else.
