Size Matters

No, not in the way you think, you dirty minded person.
I received some great news yesterday. I got a contract to co-edit the book on the social and environmental impacts of nanotechnology that I proposed back in December, titled Size Matters: Nanotechnology, Social Change, and the Environment. We’ll be publishing with Rowman and Littlefield, an extremely well-respected academic publisher. Fortunately, the real work on this book won’t begin until I’ve finished my current manuscript, but it does presage another busy year ahead — but it is a good busy. This is a book which I hope will make a vital contribution to our understanding of the potential social and environmental impacts of these emerging technologies which are sure to become a central part of our lives in the next several decades.
On top of all of that, this is a good addition for my forthcoming tenure review, which begins in August. This should solidify my case, which I think was already decent to begin with.

Bob,
There’s an absurd video on CNN that I know will get your blood pressure up. Here’s a more extensive explaination,

Bob,
That’s so fucking awesome! Good luck with everything!
And raise hell if they give you any trouble with the tenure review. As I’m sure you know, small private universities in the middle of nowhere like to try to fuck over leftist professors.

I’m excited. I enjoyed reading the nanotech paper you presented some time last year.
