| The Knife Silent Shout |
When J & I went to Invisible NYC back in March to get some tattoo work done, the Knife was on heavy rotation, and I got into it, but it took a little while to really grow on me. The main vocals are sort of Bjork-ish at times, and maybe kind of like Siouxsie Sioux at other times. Or, maybe they’re like a bastard, electronically-altered child of them both or something. In any case, I think this album is probably old news among the cooler of you out there — without knowing who it was, I’ve heard remixes of these tracks on some techno albums I have1 — but I’ve been listening to this whole album lately, and liking the fairly tight beats and the weird but evocative vocals. I recommend it if you’re in the mood for some unpredictable and interesting electronica.
- Yes, techno mixes. Techno helps me write. I’d never have my PhD without techno, and my current book wouldn’t be 120 pages in without techno either! [↩]

Thought this post deserved a comment.
The Knife are awesome.
Techno is such an encompassing & somewhat meaningless term now. Anyone who has a problem with it is the fool, not you. No justification for listening to it is necessary.
