Making A Killing
Sat, Nov 25th, 2006
I’m hard at work on my next book, Making a Killing: The Political Economy of Animal Rights, which should be finished in March, but won’t come out until Fall 2007. For the longest time, I was unsure what the hell to call the book. Originally, I proposed the title Consuming Cruelty: Animals, Capitalism, and the Politics of Veganism but the publisher didn’t love that title. So, we went back and forth with a few more, but at their suggestion, we’ve settled on Making a Killing.
I’m excited about this book. Right now there are precious few books on the linkages between animal rights and capitalism, and I think a book like the one I’m writing is sorely needed, not just at an academic level, but also at the level of movement politics.
I’ll keep you all updated (as if anyone even reads this).

I cannot wait until your book is published. It’s important for anyone in animal rights/liberation to understand the ties of animal exploitation to capitalism. It’s something that is often overlooked among many activists.
